Milestone Infrastructure is currently looking to recruit a Sub Agent to work in our Projects Team on our Cambridge Contract.


Since 2017, Milestone Infrastructure have been delivering a Term Maintenance Contract (TMC) with Cambridge County Council (CCC) to carry out highway's maintenance and improvement schemes on their network.

The contract, which continues to 2027, includes the delivery of individual highway projects between the values of £1.5m to £15m


As a Sub-Agent, you'll be responsible for:

  • Manage and supervise a wide range of highway-based projects on-site ensuring work is carried out safely, on time, to budget and in accordance with the HSEQ standards required by Milestone Infrastructure (MI) and Cambridge County Council (CCC).
  • Be responsible for daytoday management of site tasks.
  • Aid the site agent / project manager with the development of the construction programmes and methodology utilising existing knowledge & experience and through engagement with Key Supply Chain.
  • Monitor site activities against target programmes reporting exceptions in outputs, delays etc
  • Aid the site agent / project manager with the creation of the Construction Phase Plans, method statements and safe systems of work are inplace before work is started and that required safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Manage all risks effectively on site and ensure adherence to MI risk management processes.
  • Ensure inhouse and subcontract personnel are competent and fully trained to undertake their work.
  • Liaise with commercial team, designers and site teams to manage changes identified on site
  • Fully engage with the commercial team members to ensure the project commercial procedures are followed. Management of engineering team.
  • Attend client meetings to provide them with a delivery update and manage any adverse issues
  • Compliance with Milestone and PCC, H&S, Quality and Environmental, reporting and performance requirements
  • Represent Milestone and the Client in a professional manner at all times. Be customer focused and proactive in managing customer interface to prevent / eliminate complaints.
  • Able to supervise night operations when required and provide a report to the Site Agent / Project Manager at the end of the shift
  • Carryout site inductions, toolbox talks and briefings to site operatives
  • Ensure adequate records are maintained through photographs, site diaries and as built drawings
  • Carry out a public facing communication role on the project which includes attending Public Liaison meetings, communication with and keeping a log of public communications, interfacing with the CCC customer liaison team

Essential Skills for a Sub-Agent

  • Possession of SMSTS
  • CSCS (supervisor card)
  • Driving licence
  • AutoCAD or similar experience required.
  • Streetworks NRSWA Supervisor preferable.
  • Knowledge and use of GPS and Total Station equipment along with setting out processes.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience of supervising Highway improvement and public realm work.
  • A practical understanding of health and safety management and the requirements of CDM.
  • Have working knowledge of a proprietary planning package.
  • Strong engineering background (previous engineering role preferable).
  • A working knowledge of quality and environmental standards for highway improvement work.
  • Experience of managing and supervising staff, workforce and subcontractors.
  • Commercially aware with knowledge of budget and cost control processes
  • Good communication skills
