    Job Purpose

    As Environmental Advisor you will be required to support and advise Subsea Projects UK in achieving its legal, business and corporate objectives and goals.

    Your focus will concentrate on the delivery of support within Subsea Projects.

    Be an active member of the TechnipFMC HSE community.

    This role is primarily based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire and may require occasional travel.

    Reporting lines and interactions:

    Hierarchically reports to: HSE Manager (Regional HSE Manager)

    Operationally reports to: HSE Manager (Regional HSE Manager)

    Directly supervises: N/A

    Key interactions (internally, externally):

    Clients, Subsea Projects UK, Mediterranean and Caspian; New Energy Ventures; Front-End Engineering; Project and Site HSE Representatives; Global / One Fleet Environmental Team; others as required.

    Job scope

    The Environmental Advisor will work within the regional HSE Team, interfacing with the wider TechnipFMC organisation through interactions with other discipline teams and providing environmental support and technical inputs for Subsea Projects, Front Line Design & Engineering and New Energy Ventures.

    They shall ensure the provision of environmental expertise with particular emphasis on greenhouse gas, natural resource and waste reduction.

    Job Description

    The Environmental Advisor will work within the HSE Team, interfacing with the wider TechnipFMC organisation through interactions with other discipline teams and providing environmental support and technical inputs in Subsea Projects, Front Line Design & Engineering and New Energy Ventures.

    Provision of environmental scientist expertise with particular emphasis on greenhouse gas, natural resource and waste reduction.

    Main accountabilities:

    Essential:

  • Ensure compliance with management system certification regulations / legislation and external auditors as required ISO 14001 Certification FPAL, clients, etc Legal Registers
  • 50/30 GHG calculations, monitoring, actions register to reduce emissions as well as assessing environmental impacts of offshore infrastructure projects and operations
  • Supporting the environmental impact assessment process in line with regulatory and client specific requirements
  • Interfacing with regulatory authorities on behalf of TechnipFMC
  • Communicate / share best practise from industry, competitors, clients etc.
  • Input to HSE MDR and ensure policies, procedures and documents are up to date
  • Interface with various stakeholders including internal, suppliers, clients and others as required
  • Identify and work towards environmental KPIs
  • Provide environmental related support, advice, & guidance to Subsea Projects and Shared Service departments / sites onshore, as required
  • Incident management
  • Actively monitor environmental performance and report internally / externally as required
  • Communicate lesson learned
  • Continue to lead and drive the circular economy campaign
  • GHG emission calculations for projects and operations of energy infrastructure
  • Ensuring TechnipFMC activities are carried out in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Advise / support to project teams etc as required on the management of NORM
  • Advising on disposal and waste management from fabrication and decommissioning processes
  • Additional information:

  • Ability to demonstrate the correct behaviours in implementing all HSE programmes;
  • Recognise the 'ownership' of health, safety and environmental control within their sphere of activity and lead by example.
  • You are meant for this job if:

    Qualifications:

    Must have:

  • Degree in a relevant science or environmental subject ideally including a marine ecology / biodiversity aspect
  • Previous Environmental Experience in the Energy Industry and delivery of Subsea Projects
  • ISO 14001:2015 Lead / Internal auditor
  • Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) qualified
  • Nice to have:

  • NEBOSH general certificate
  • Chartered with relevant body
  • Typical background and experience required:

    Must have:

  • Experience of developing/implementing ISO 14001 environmental management systems;
  • Experience of collating and analysing environmental and energy data and identifying trends;
  • General understanding of subsea and marine activities;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills suitable for engaging with all levels within the business;
  • Lead Auditor/auditing experience.
  • Be a strong team player with track record of influencing, mentoring and coaching others
  • Be well-motivated and able to work to tight deadlines
  • Have excellent written skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of offshore operations in subsea construction sector
  • Knowledge of renewable energy options
  • Commercial awareness
  • Problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Nice to have:

  • Incident investigation training and experience conducting investigations.
  • Experience providing environmental advice in environmental projects.
  • Active membership of recognized environmental body.
  • Experience of developing and delivering environmental training
  • Previous experience of overseas operating environment, ideally Mediterranean, Caspian Sea and / or Black Sea legislative environment
  • Onshore environmental management experience
  • Prior experience of offshore energy transition projects
  • Desire to develop new skills and experience.
