    The post

    The need for effective research into geology and mining has never been greater, and continued expansion of research facilities within the Camborne School of Mines at the University of Exeter has led to the creation of this new position to help drive that research forwards.

    Based at the University's Penryn Campus near Falmouth in Cornwall, the principal role of this position will be to provide technical management of all aspects of geochemistry across the Camborne School of Mines laboratories. This will include the use of analytical equipment, development of new methods and standard operating procedures, quality assurance, health and safety and provision of advice to staff and students, along with on-going development of the facility to stay at the forefront of scientific research. In addition, the role holder will have the opportunity to contribute to on-going research programmes and publish work in scientific journals.

    The successful candidate will be well-versed in the use of ICP technology and other analytical geochemistry techniques as well as sample preparation and operating in a clean environment for trace element analysis. They will be working in a forward-looking environment where the delivery of reliable and accurate data is central to the future success of the department and will help to shape that success.
