    Consultant Psychiatrist in CAMHS Learning Disabilities

    Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint Two full time Consultant Psychiatrist (2.0WTE) in CAMHS Learning Disabilities to work within its Mental Health Services.

    The Mental Health Services [MHS] division within BWC is comprised of Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB), which is a unique, innovative community and inpatient mental health service delivering a pathway of care for 0-25 year olds. The service is led by Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust and it is the first of its kind nationally. Bringing together the expertise and commitment of Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust (BWC), the Priory Group and The Children's Society, FTB offers a wide range of mental health support options tailored to the needs of the young people, young adults and families it cares for and supports.

    You will be qualified with full registration with GMC or within six months of obtaining specialist registration. Experience of working within an MDT is essential. You will have Approved Clinician status and S12 approval or be willing to achieve these within three months of appointment.

    The post will be involved in direct assessment and management of the mental health of children and young people with Intellectual disabilities. The FTB CAMHS-LD service is a well-established service with a national reputation and has well developed multidisciplinary working practices with a range of clinicians across Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Support Work. Additionally, we have very good relationships with Special Schools, Disabled Children's Social Care and Disabled Children's Care Homes. A significant number of clinical contacts will take place in special school clinics.

    The successful applicant will be employed by Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As well as working within the ground-breaking FTB service, there are a number of other benefits including a strong commitment to continuous professional development.

    Depending on the interests of the post-holder there are excellent opportunities to be involved in management, with possibility of taking up additional formal medical management and leadership roles as well as service development and post-graduate teaching.
