MAKE READY DRIVER /CLEANER - IPSWICH

The operational Support directorate at the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust are a dedicated and vital support network which assists our front-line clinicians in providing excellent care to people living in the East of England, 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day covering six counties - Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk.

This role will involve shift working including nights and weekends


Your role will involve moving and cleaning ambulances for operational duty cleaning to agreed Infection Prevention and Control quality standard.


The Trust has embarked on a transformation plan to ensure we can meet the challenges of the future by taking delivery of purpose-built ambulances and vehicles, and we have also commissioned the building and upgrading of a large number our Hubs across all six counties that we cover - Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk.


  • To deliver and collect Ambulances between Trust sites and/or external sites/agents
  • Confirm with Make Ready Staff that the vehicles they are due to move have the correct levels of stock and equipment
  • To undertake Vehicle Checks on each vehicle driven
  • Report any defects
  • Undertake extended road tests of vehicles


There is a requirement to work shifts that include nights and weekends and be flexible in line with service needs.

Good communication skills and a basic understanding of IT is essential along with the ability to work to tight deadlines.


As your role will involve moving ambulances and vehicles holding a UK manual driving licence with a C1 category is mandatory.

Along with developing a full understanding of how vitally important this role is.

Your duties will include driving and cleaning vehicles (to IPC standards) using systemic processes and specialist equipment and chemicals within an emergency vehicle.

These activities are both essential and critical - making you a vital part and a critical link between the technicians and paramedics and the excellent patient care we deliver.

Other responsibilities will require you to move ambulances around the site for refuelling, cleaning, parking, vehicle testing and maintenance


You will be liaising with vehicle technicians with regards to vehicle maintenance requirements and will be required to communicate accurately and effectively within the team.
