    Job summary

    The catering department is looking to recruit a part time experienced qualified Chef to work initially at Sandwell Hospital, Birmingham or Rowley Regis Hospital and then at our new hospital Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick in our Level 5 Restaurant

    Applicants must have City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent previous catering experience with high standards of work, be an outgoing, hard-working and enthusiastic individual that is able to work on their own initiative.

    Hours 22 hours per week

    Shift pattern

    Thursday to Sunday -

    Applicants are required to be flexible in their approach to hours and duties and able to work additional shifts as and when required.

    Candidates who have been shortlisted will be invited to an informal open day and if successful will then be invited to a formal interview.

    Main duties of the job

    To carry out a wide range of general catering duties in an efficient and effective manner to ensure that a high quality service is provided at all times. This post has a significant amount of personal contact with staff, patients and members of the public.

    To carry out duties to the required standards as efficiently and effectively as possible as part of the production team, to provide a high quality service providing safe and nutritious food to patients, staff and visitors in compliance with the Food Safety Regulations. This post requires good communication skills.

  • City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or equivalent and level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Experience

  • To demonstrate a methodical and organised approach to work
  • Ability to produce quality food to standardised recipes within set time scales
  • Previous catering experience required.
