    Job summary

    We are looking for a new Deputy Service Manager to join the Filing Service team at Companies House.

    Traditionally Companies House has been structured and organised around specific functions, but we are in the middle of a major programme of transformation which is seeing us shift to a Service Delivery Operating Model. We are organised around three key services which broadly align with our three main user groups:

  • Filing Service - (Create, Maintain, Close a Company and Accounts Filing)
  • Get Company Information Service
  • Compliance and Enforcement Service
  • And a fourth service for common services which include standard elements used across all services, such as identity, access management, payment, contact centre and digital communication methods.

    In order to support this transformation, each service needs the support of Service Owners, Service Managers and Deputy Service Managers.� The Deputy Service Manager will report to one of the Filing Service Managers but will also support the other Filing Service Managers and Service Owner. They will support them to implement the vision of the service and help deliver outcomes across the service streams.�

    They will oversee the running of the service implementation team, supporting the team to facilitate the effective implementation of new services and updates to existing services. They will learn from internal and external user insight and provide feedback to continuously improve the services. They will play a vital role in the delivery of the right capabilities to ensure our services are set up to succeed.

    Job description

    As our Deputy Service Manager will join a team of already established Filing Service Managers who are looking after the create, maintain and close a company filing services; and report into one of the Service Managers.

    The team sits in the wider Transformation Delivery Directorate.

    Responsibilities:

  • Understand the key deliverables of the services and help ensure the delivery of the service streams.
  • Support the service managers to help Heads of Professions to identify and shape the right capability (teams, roles, skills) within the service delivery team to maintain organisational performance.
  • Support service managers in managing Service Level Agreements which deliver to the Service Owner�s requirements.
  • Support effective stakeholder engagement with internal and external users, maintaining good relationships with key stakeholders to continually improve the service offering.
  • Support the service managers on a range of projects which are commissioned through the portfolio. This will also mean acting as a deputy Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) of projects to cover short term absences.
  • Identify and manage any delivery issues and escalate where appropriate.
  • Understand customer insight and user research relating to the services and help to translate these into service improvements.
  • Help to define the benefits and outcomes for service improvements and track delivery.
  • Highlight any deviation from budget to ensure the filing services are operating within agreed parameters.
  • Represent the views of stakeholders within change governance processes.
  • Act as a countersigning manager for the service implementation team and as reporting manager for the service implementation team manager.

  • Experience of meeting the needs of users across a variety of channels.
  • Experience of working with stakeholders in supporting the delivery of business cases.�
  • Experience of supporting the management of Strategic goals into deliverables and outcomes.
  • Experience of managing teams.
  • Experience of delivering process improvements, cost reduction and driving value for money.
  • Previous experience of working in an agile environment, using continuous improvement to deliver high-quality services is desirable.

    Alongside your salary of �40,676, Companies House contributes �10,982 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

    Please note that the minimum salary does not reflect the 2023/24 pay deal and we are therefore expecting this to increase in the near future.
