We have a great opportunity for an Outreach and Engagement Officer to join our Affordability and Data Share Department.

You will support on the promotion of United Utilities' affordability schemes so we can support customers in the North West.

Be an external point of contact to the various debt/affordability organisations throughout the region. Supporting the department in the achievement of its affordability targets, and maintaining the North West Hardship Hub.


Job Accountabilities:


  • Supporting the Outreach and Engagement Manager, work with existing partner charities and organisations such as local DWP, CAB and other Money Advice providers from across the region, using their knowledge of expertise to help promote the affordability schemes within their sectors of the community in the North West
  • Supporting the Outreach and Engagement Manager, undertake activities that support compliance with OFWATS customer fair pay guidelines:
Work with other bodies - to reach customers in vulnerable circumstances, those in debt or at risk of falling into debt
Use data to drive targeted engagement of hard-to-reach customers and communities with tangible measures of reach across the region.

  • In line with UU operational teams, support on affordability promotional events around the region for:
Externally run events
Customer road shows
Internal campaigns

  • Maintain a supply of relevant documentation (leaflets, booklets, posters etc) to be provided to NW Money Advice sector
  • Create and maintain an effectiveness tracker for any events attended to determine success and future attendance
  • Maintain the administration of the North West Hardship Hub
  • Support on affordability compliance activity when required
  • Support on Data Share activity when required

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Ability to converse positively and politely with customers using multiple channels
  • Able to perform role with integrity, sensitivity and empathy
  • Understanding of the UUW affordability schemes
  • Good understanding of UUW Customer operations systems, policies and procedures and billing systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage own workload and work on own initiative
  • Clean driving licence required as the job entails travel across the region.
