Description

The Role:

As the Assistant Buyer you'll need to love each step of the Buying cycle. Everything from being involved in design meetings, sourcing and range management. You will play an integral part of the Product Life Cycle co-ordinating all activities within this area including sourcing, critical path management and supplier negotiations


Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Creation and management of the Critical Paths for the various product categories ensuring all tasks are assigned to a team member with clear timescales and deadlines
  • Involvement and recommendation of the best supplier(s) in order for Design too brief a new product to
  • Negotiation with those suppliers on new products on pricing, MOQ's, Lead times etc and assessment of pricing vs similar products in the those categories to ensure pricing is in line with the business
  • Resourcing of existing products in line with business requirements
  • Sourcing new suppliers as instructed by the Sourcing and PM Director
  • Carry out initial supplier audits, completing all relevant documentation and providing score levels and any recommended improvements. Communicate with the suppliers and agree relevant actions for improvements along with timescales and deadlines
  • Preparation and management of the cost prices for a selection of product categories which will drive the sales price lists for the business. This will involve the calculation of landed prices including freight, duty, UK charges.

The person:


  • Microsoft Project experience desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience in a similar role involving product management
  • Experience of working with and negotiating with suppliers
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with all levels across the business
  • Good understanding of product management desirable
  • Worked with Far East Suppliers in the past

Reporting to:
Sourcing and Product Management Director
Hours: 40hrs - Monday-Friday 8.45am-5.15pm including 30 min break
Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays + service days for long service
dress down Friday & early finish Friday on a rota basis.
