    The post is designed to deliver clinical care to in-patients (IP) under the responsibility of the Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Consultants at St George's Hospital.

    The appointee will join four Gastroenterology registrars, three IMTs and three FY doctors and work with 15 consultants, in a highly supportive environment with consultant presence on the unit between 09.00, which offers the ideal setting for a trainee to develop further the required skills of a Gastroenterology registrar.

    The majority of the time will be spent on normal working days (8.As well as the Gastroenterology department offering the full range of inpatient, outpatient and endoscopy Services to the local community, St George's Hospital is also a national endoscopy training centre and the SW London Bowel Cancer Screening Centre, the SW London regional centre for intestinal failure and HPN, and the regional hub for viral hepatitis.

    Develop leadership skills, through managing a team of junior doctors on thegastroenterology and hepatology ward
    Gain a basic introduction to endoscopy
    Undertake an audit project in gastroenterology or hepatology
    Qualifications and Training
    12 months experience working in Emergency or Acute General Medicine
    Postgraduate diploma (MRCP, MCEM, MRCS)
    Able to work independently, but aware of own limitations and knows when to ask for help from consultant or colleague in other specialties
    Understands principles of patient confidentiality and data protection
    Computer literate
    Experience of ultrasound
    An awareness of how to sustain career development

    Experience of managing junior medical staff
    Interest in and ability to contribute to teaching and learning of more junior doctors and medical students

    Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English
    Evidence of leadership qualities (within and outside medicine)

    Other work experience / outside interests
