Intermodal Data Lead

Permanent, full time (Based in Ipswich)
Core functions include financial and operational budgeting and reporting, identifying trends and opportunities. Implement and support adoption of new system solutions, facilitating constant improvement within the department and the wider business.


Core responsibilities:


  • Hold one to one meeting monthly and team meetings quarterly
  • Continually monitor, improve, and share individual and team performance. Reporting back within the management structure so results can be shared across business
  • Ensure training and competency plans are in place for each member of staff and monitor in line with performance development reviews
  • Guide, coach and empower the team to achieve business excellence and ensure a confident and progressive department
  • Contribute to a positive work climate through a flexible attitude to work and support for colleagues and other team members
  • Ensure weekly / monthly KPI's are consistently achieved within required timeframe.
  • Reporting and analysis of MSC UK Haulage activity for MSC UK management and MSC Geneva Intermodal, both on a scheduled and adhoc basis
  • Regular "what If" analysis to assist business decisions
  • Production of annual haulage budget together with supporting commentaries
  • Developing a full working knowledge of MSC Operations processes and systems
  • Investigation and implementation of system solutions to assist in improving internal operating processes, and creation of associated functional documentation and user guides
  • Supporting IT in the testing, implementation, and adoption of new IT systems in the department where required
  • Full review of current procedures to identify opportunities for increased efficiency
  • Support the Transport Administration Manager with process improvements to ensure that productivities and improvements are delivered within the team.

Qualifications, skills and experience:


  • Excellent numeracy, literacy skills; strong Microsoft excel & Power BI skills
  • Able to adapt to in house computer systems as well as a good working knowledge of remaining programs within Office 36
  • Plan and prioritise work, to ensure strict deadlines are met, whilst being flexible in a fastpaced and demanding environment
  • Ability to develop and maximize the skills and productivity of the team
  • Capable to analysing high volumes of data and presenting in a variety of ways to suit the audience
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally
  • A continued positive attitude to new business challenges
  • Desire to improve upon current procedures
  • Always demonstrate professionalism

Experience in different fields and topics is always valuable, so if you happen to have any of the following expertise it may be viewed favourably:

  • Previous supervisory/management experience preferred preferably within shipping or transport
  • High level experience of Power BI and data analysis
