The Role
The purpose of the role is to Manage the night shift in the factory. You will be involved with the planning, coordination and control of manufacturing processes and shift personnel.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the products are produced efficientlyand safely also ensuring the correct amount is produced at the right cost and at the right level of quality.
Key Responsibilities- KPI delivery within shift, and daily for the operation.
- Identify and improve "shift set" performance for home shift.
- Responsible for whole site operation and asset oversight.
- Operations responsibilities include production, warehouse, inbound, and despatch.
- Maintain high standards of safety within production and actively encourage a safe culture.
- Conduct regular safety audits in conjunction with the Health, Safety, and Environment Manager.
- Manage shift engineer and shift leadership team.
- Ensure that all production staff maintains high standards of hygiene and housekeeping.
- Conduct regular technical (GMP) audits and liaise closely with the technical team on nonconformance.
- Liaise closely with the Planning Team to ensure that production plans are optimal and achievable prior to being issued.
- Monitor production efficiency (OEE) and product performance information by production and packing live.
- Use downtime and efficiency analysis to drive continuous improvement in the factory.
- Produce detailed waste analysis for materials, work in progress, and finished product.
- Manage holidays and absence within production ensuring that there is sufficient cover to achieve planned requirements.
- Conduct daily production meetings at the start of the day and on the shift change including other departments (Planning, Technical, Engineering) which communicate the production plan, review daily performance and resolve daytoday problems.
- Liaise closely with engineering to improve unplanned downtime and machine reliability.
- Develop, motivate and lead compliance of themselves and their teams to health and safety procedures and systems.

- Demonstrate a successful track record in a chilled or frozen food factory in an operations management role.
- Managed a large production team (direct and agency labour).
- Ideally gained experience in the desserts category.
- KPI management i.e. process, quality, performance improvements, areas of cost reduction, site rationalisation etc.; and have successfully driven through manufacturing improvements on all operational fronts.
- Able to work in a fastpaced and challenging environment as well as demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- A handson approach to leadership, flexible people management style, able to motivate others.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, as this is really important in order to maintain a high level of service and quality.
- The ability to act decisively and demonstrate good judgement and problemsolving capabilities;
- The ability to grasp concepts easily and work with figures and budgets. Computer literate and confident using computer packages such as spreadsheets and databases.
