Job summary:


Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton, near Ilchester, Somerset, is home to the Royal Navy's Wildcat Helicopter Maritime Force and the Commando Merlin Helicopter Force as well as the Army Reconnaissance Force (Wildcat helicopters).

It supports operational and training squadrons, and units, providing pilot, observer, aircrewman, aircraft controller, fighter controller and engineering training in support of Navy Command.

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, focused, and reliable individual to join the Air Training Group (ATG) team as an Administration Officer.

The position requires strong communication, record keeping and analytical skills with a positive flexibility and an attention to detail in a constantly changing environment.

This position is advertised at 30 hours per week (salary pro-rata).


Job description:


  • The Administration Officer (AO) is an integral member of the ATG; a small Civil Service section of five people working in a modern open plan office. We primarily design, produce and audit Flying and Aviation related training courses for the Fleet Air Arm, as directed by Navy Command. The other part of our team is the Navy Graphics Section offering graphic design and media production in support of training and day to day running of all units at RNAS Yeovilton. The AO's role is to give administrative, analytical and data management support for the ATG's output across all Fleet Air Arm (FAA) flying, aircraft control and aviation nonengineering training documentation to ensure compliance with current policies.

Person specification:

Routine office administration of the Air Training Group (ATG):

  • Administration of all non-technical FAA training records collated and produced by the ATG
  • Assist the administration and collation of EXVAL (External Validation) of mandated ereturns for all FAA aircrew and Air Traffic Control personnel in training as directed.
  • Assist in the data management contained in the Air Course Handbook edited by the ATG
  • Assist in the administrative support for the RNAS Yeovilton campus, of the FAA Military Aviation Academy, for the Open University Degree and Diploma schemes for RNAS Yeovilton aircrew and ATC personnel under training
  • Assist Heron Training Assurance in the conduct of Post Course Discussions (PCDs) across the Air Station and actively participate in the PCD INVAL (Internal Validation) process mandated for FAA training.
