Senior DevOps Engineer - Oxford, United Kingdom - Oxford Nanopore Technologies
Description
Oxford Nanopore Technologies is headquartered at the Oxford Science Park outside Oxford, UK, with satellite offices and a commercial presence in many global locations across the US, APAC and Europe.
Oxford Nanopore's sequencing platform is the only technology that offers real-time analysis, in fully scalable formats from pocket to population scale, that can analyse native DNA or RNA and sequence any length of fragment to achieve short to ultra-longread lengths.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Work closely with developers to develop automated methods for deployment and maintenance of their solutions
- Build and maintain monitoring and alerting systems
- Maintain infrastructure on premises and in cloud
- Collaborate with infrastructure team to manage hardware
- Working closely with developers throughout ONT to develop and enhance the software.
- Ability to break down complex technical work into smaller manageable parts.
- Any other duties as might be required within the remit and responsibilities of the post.
The essential experience, knowledge and attitude for this role include:
- Strong cloud experience (AWS Preferred, GCP or Azure)
- Highly proficient in terraform to develop, manage complex infrastructure as code.
- Strong Experience with Gitlab CI. Able to implement CI/CD pipeline as per DevOps best practices.
- Strong Linux systems administration experience.
- Experience in Application administration of DevOps Tools (GitLab, Atlassian, Artifactory etc)
- Implement best practice security processes within the system engineering and lab facilities.
- An advocate for best security practices in an Agile development process, suggesting code or tool improvements to the development pipelines with security in mind
- Strong in DevOps Tools/Application Administration (Jira, Confluence, Gitlab, Artifactory, Git.)
- Software development in a highlevel language (Python, Rust, Go, etc)
- Mixed cloud and onpremises environments
- Deployment orchestration tools (Ansible)
- Containerisation and orchestration technologies (Docker & Kubernetes)
- Strong Scripting experience (Python & Bash)
- Strong at Opensource monitoring technologies (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
- Strong problemsolving skills
- Selfmotivated working to brief with limited supervision
- AWS Certification
- Kubernetes Experience
- Kubernetes for production services
- Database Administration and Development (MySQL and Postgres)
- Monitoring Metrics design
- Multi architecture software development or packaging
- Gitlab administration and Support
