About The Role

We have a great opportunity for a Data Governance Analyst to join us here at Coventry Building Society during this time of growth and change.

We are looking for someone who can actively contribute to the Society's Data Governance Framework
- to govern data ina compliant, effective, and risk-based approach. The role is to also develop a detailed knowledge of departmental risks and control methodologies, ensuring these are monitored and in a timely and effective manner.
As our Data Governance Analyst - some key accountability will include:

  • Working closely with business areas to maintain and continuously improve our enterprise data assets through data catalogues, data stewardship and data quality management
  • Supporting continuous improvement through process optimisation and engagement with corporate projects.
  • Meeting with stakeholders to understand the wider business need for data and business definitions that ensure data can be consistently and appropriately used across the Society.
About You
Working as our Data Governance Analyst, you'll be reporting directly to the Senior Data Governance Analyst.

You'll be an experienced data user, used to working with large volumes of data and have an eye for detail.

You'll also be curious and inquisitive totrack data lineage, highlight problems, and examine how data is authored and used in the context of business processes.


You'll be or have:

  • Experience in Data Analysis across a range of sources (e.g. relational and dimensional databases, file systems, semistructured and unstructured data, models, spreadsheets)
  • Understanding of data governance and data quality management with associated Risk management
  • Familiarity with business analysis and process modelling
  • Awareness of data modelling and data warehouse methodologies
  • Strong Stakeholder engagement skills, management and collaboration with an ability to question and challenge, put forward new ideas and gain buy in through key working relationships.
  • Experienced in using SQL
  • An advanced user of Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in Data catalogues/metadata management solutions)
  • Experience of Agile Project Management preferred but not essential
