Key duties & responsibilities

  • Teach a full schedule, as assigned by the Director of Studies and/or Centre Director, typically to include a Standard or Intensive teaching schedule, depending on the needs of the centre.
  • Proactively contribute and collaborate as a key member of the Bayswater Academic Team
  • Mentor teachers and train new teachers.
  • Provide academic support to students including but not limited to: monitoring and ensuring student attendance, counselling students, assisting with Monday intake, dealing with student issues, class and level changes, books, etc.
  • Provide administrative support to the Academics office including but not limited to: payroll, checking completion of teacher admin tasks/outstanding tasks, curriculum development, training, etc.
  • Ensure consistent, highquality delivery across all centres of current curriculum.
  • Contribute to development of additional Professional Skills and Practical English offerings to drive profitable enrolment.
  • Collaborate with Student Services and Administrative teams to ensure best customer experience for all participants.
  • During absence of Director of Studies, coordinate with Centre Director for coverage of responsibilities.
  • Provide support to the school including but not limited to: facilities, supporting other departments when necessary.
  • Establishment of a positive learning environment for all students, ensuring that they feel supported in their learning.
  • Creation of lessons that are motivating and engaging with a focus on learning.
  • Complete class administration in a timely manner, including lesson plan submission, student attendance, student assessment and progress reports.
  • Attend and on occasion lead staff meetings and training sessions as directed by the DoS
  • Seek feedback from students, peers and managers.
  • Set development goals in conjunction with the Director of Studies based on observations, feedback and individual areas of interest.
  • Follow the directives in the employee handbook and teacher manual.
  • Provide occasional substitute coverage.
  • Assist Director of Studies in piloting new materials and programs
  • Keep current with school policies and company aims.

Knowledge, Qualification and Experience

  • Essential_
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert TESOL (TEFL-I status)
  • Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Dip TESOL or equivalent (TEFL-Q status)
  • Desirable_
  • MA Applied Linguistics and ELT/TESOL
  • Teacher Trainer status and/or teacher development experience
  • Experience of teaching exam preparation courses
  • Experience of teaching ESPs, such as Business, Academic English
  • Experience of working with juniors
  • PGCE
  • Experience of using interactive touch screen TVs in the classroom
