Our Innovate UK EDGE Team is currently seeking a full-time Business Growth Advisor.

As part of our diverse team of business coaches, you will provide one-to-one support to innovative and high growth SMEs, assisting the businesses in sourcing funding, exploitingtheir IP and accessing new markets.

You would be working 37.5 hours per week from home but would be travelling regularly across South East England for face to face meetings.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract.


About the Role:


As a Business Growth Advisor, you will be an expert in commercialising innovation with considerable experience of helping growth businesses access funding and finance.

As well as expert knowledge, you will need exceptional client facing skills and the disciplineto work within programme parameters to achieve the required impacts.


About the Company:


Main Duties and Responsibilities of our Business Growth Advisor:

  • Recruit established, innovative, high growth SMEs in the South East of England
  • Establish that prospective SME clients are eligible and suitable for the support provided
  • Use diagnostic tools to assess the strengths/weaknesses of the business and agree a programme of support to enable the business to grow at pace
  • Work with the SME senior team to implement the agreed programme of business support
  • Connect the business to other relevant business support, including other Innovate UK services
  • Build effective relationships with individuals, organisations and stakeholders in the South East to develop a pipeline of highquality referrals
  • Record every interaction on the CRM
  • Support other IGSs in the delivery team, sharing knowledge and best practice
  • Assist in delivery of other programme initiatives as required
  • Gather data and information to demonstrate the impact of the business support provide
  • Any other duties as reasonably required

What we are looking for in our Business Growth Advisor:

  • A business track record that is highly credible to SMEs
  • The ability to develop effective relationships with SMEs
  • An excellent understanding and experience of translating R&D into commercially successful products/services
  • The ability to manage and support a portfolio of established SME clients
  • Excellent attention to detail, be highly numerate and commercially astute
  • Welldeveloped networking, business development, influencing and selling skills appropriate to this type of programme
  • Good teamworking skills to support colleagues to deliver collaborative support to SME clients
  • A good level of digital and social media skills
  • A very positive, friendly, driven, selfmotivated and resultsoriented personality
  • Qualifications in coaching (e.g. ILM), business (e.g. MBA) or professional qualifications (e.g. Accounting) desirable
  • Significant years of senior level management experience ideally involving commercialising innovation
  • Significant experience of delivering high level business coaching or advisory support to SMEs
  • Experience of owning or managing a business, preferably an innovative SME
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (Essential)
