Job Description:
The Junior Professional Officers (JPO) Programme offers young professionals interested in pursuing a career in development an exceptional opportunity to acquire hands-on experience in multilateral technical cooperation.
The programme helps UNICEF identify individuals who could become staff members and make important contributions to UNICEF's future and its work on behalf of children.
JPOs are typically between 28 and 35 years of age and are recruited as professional staff members at P-1 and P-2 entry level.
The only exceptions are Belgium, which sponsors nationals of programme countries with which they have bilateral development cooperation relations, and the Netherlands, which sponsors nationals of eligible developing countries listed on their government website.
A maximum age of 32 yearsA university degree equivalent to a Master's DegreeAt least two years of relevant work experienceFluency in written and spoken English and preferably another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian)Computer literacy in standard software applicationsA keen interest in the work of the United Nations in general and of UNICEF in particular, and a personal commitment to UNICEF's mission and to the ideals of the UN Charter.
