About The Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Management Officer within the Council's Central Transport Services to lead, manage and develop the required financial, business and process matters to support the effective functioning of the Fleet Service.


About the job

  • Managing a team of Fleet Support Officers and Business Administration Assistants to ensure effective and efficient management and leadership of administrative tasks, e.g., raising invoices/orders.
  • Effective management of the financial elements of the Fleet Management IT system daily, together with the required interfaces with SAP.
  • Ensuring effective administration support to the Fleet Services in respect of the Workshop, Transport Coordination, Fleet Asset Management and Procurement.
  • Assisting with preparation of Business Plans and strategic planning.
  • Reviewing and developing processes to ensure a high level of financial robustness with continual improvement, monitoring income recovery and necessary actions.
  • Reviewing and analysing finance reports and addressing any issues, to ensure that the Year End closure of accounts has mínimal disruption.
  • Development and implementation of processes to effectively manage customer contacts, including compliments, requests, and complaints and analysis of customer feedback, and
  • Assisting with the development of new commercial business opportunities for the Central Transport Service.

What We Are Looking For From You

  • Have experience in preparing financial and management reports.
  • Has the Association of Accounting Technician qualification or is currently studying to obtain this qualification.
  • Experience in managing an administration team in a transport environment.
  • Have ability to communicate with all levels of staff, management, and outside agencies. Able to communicate complex information both orally and written, in a clear, articulate, and professional manner.
  • Be highly organised in the planning of work and collation, arrangement, and presentation of information, and
  • Have a strong commitment for taking personal responsibility to getting things done.
