Visitor Experience Officer - Stonehouse, United Kingdom - National Trust
![Default job background](https://contents.bebee.com/public/img/bg-user-ex-1.jpg)
Description
Summary
Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.
If you love working with all kinds of people, and you're excited by the Trust's cause – to protect and care for places so that people and nature can thrive – then this could be the job for you.
This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in equal instalments.
What it's like to work here
You'll be reporting to the Experience & Visitor Programming Manager, working in a large team, at the Cotswolds Countryside portfolio.
The Cotswolds Countryside portfolio includes many outdoors sites in the Cotswolds, such as the Rodborough and Minchinhampton Commons, Crickley Hill, Haresfield Beacon, and several historic buildings. This role will cover the whole area but will have a focus on supporting the visitor operations at Woodchester Park around the Tinkley Gate cafe, and the Sherborne Estate at the historic property of Lodge Park. There will be regular weekend working, approximately two weekends per month, to ensure we deliver excellent service throughout the year and to deliver engaging events and activities. At times you will be the most senior person on site, leading the duty management and responding to emergencies and enquiries.
What you'll be doing
As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great service for visitors. With your team, you'll be welcoming people and inspiring them to really get to know the Cotswolds countryside. This might include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here.
You'll be sharing with others your love for your work and the place itself. You might be encouraging visitors to get closer to Cotswolds nature and wildlife, learn about the history of Lodge Park, or organising fun and inspiring ways to help our visitors enjoy the outdoors. You might be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You're likely to be checking standards of presentation on site, supporting partners to deliver events, working with external designers to create maps and leaflets, or helping to write for our web pages. You'll have a budget to manage and income targets to achieve.
