    MHSOP provision in the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale (SWR) includes the following services.Community Mental health and Memory ServicesMHSOP community mental health and memory services in Scarbrough Whitby and Ryedale area are provided by two Community Mental Health Teams i.e., Scarbrough CMHT which is based in Cross Lane Hospital and Ryedale CMHT which is based in Princess Road Clinic in Malton. MHSOP Inpatient Services Rowan Lea Ward at Cross Lane Hospital is a 20-bed inpatient assessment and treatment ward for older people with mental health problems. Springwood Complex Needs Unit at Springwood is a complex needs unit with 14 beds. Springwood provides care for people usually over the age of 65 who need specialist mental health nursing care.

    Main duties of the job This is a replacement post providing Consultant leadership to an Organic ward. The consultant will be expected to support with assessment, diagnosis, suggestions for the appropriate cluster and care pathway for the patient service. The consultant will have RC status for all MHSOP in patients on the ward. The consultant will be required to be involved in the assessment, formulation, discharge planning and 117 meetings for their patients. The wards use QIS methodology for its day-to-day function- including daily report outs, use of a visual control board and using standardised processes such as formulations as part of the patient care pathway.     Experience
    Essential
    • Excellent knowledge in specialty
    • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
    • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
    • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
    • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA

    Desirable

    • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service

    Qualifications
    Essential

    • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.

    Desirable

    • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
    • MRCPsych
    • Additional clinical qualifications.
