Salary:
G7 £31,364 to £ 35,745 per annum


Working pattern: 37 hours a week 5 days a week

A number of exciting opportunities have arisen within the Housing and Welfare Service for Housing and Welfare Officers.

Your role will include the following:

  • Providing a comprehensive and high quality, customer focussed housing options service to applicants.
  • Conduct assessments, evaluating evidence and make decisions in accordance to legislation.
  • Negotiate with landlords, parents and other agencies, both statutory and nonstatutory to find the best solutions to customers housing & support needs.
  • Determine a customer's need for emergency temporary accommodation and arrange suitable placements.
  • Manage a caseload and maintain accurate case records to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Working with young people (YP's) aged Young Person's post)
  • Joint working with Children's Services
  • Joint Assessments etc. Also working closely with Transition Leaving Care Team (TLC) pathways for care leavers (Young Person's post)


A key part of the role will be the prevention of homelessness and working with customers to remain in their homes or to assist them in finding accommodation elsewhere.


We are looking for pro-active individuals who are able to take an innovative approach to problem solving and are effective negotiators.

You will have the ability to be flexible, compassionate, and have a positive attitude when dealing with complex cases. You'll work with our established support team and the role will be challenging, frustrating at times but ultimately rewarding.

The post will require hybrid working.

Our team's core hours are as follows:

  • Monday to Thursday 8.45am to 5.15pm
  • Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm
  • Work outside core hours will be inevitable from time to time.
