Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Radiology team at the Bournemouth and Christchurch Sites of University Hospitals Dorset working as a Radiographers Assistant.
The Radiology Directorate undertakes a wide variety of examinations including X-rays, ultrasound scans and procedures under radiology guidance. Radiography Department Assistants (RDA's) work in all these areas undertaking various roles.
Main duties of the job
The RDA role is to assist the radiographers and thereby achieve a smooth and high throughput of patients through the x-ray rooms, Fluoroscopy rooms and Ultrasound.
Inputting data into the department computer systems such as the Radiology Information system (RIS) and the image archive system (PACS)
Assisting patients to prepare for examinations by helping them undress and explaining the procedure to them whilst maintaining privacy and dignity.
Preparing procedure rooms for the forthcoming patients by laying up sterile trolleys, mixing barium compounds etc.
Liaison with other wards, departments and staff members to arrange patient appointments/care
Transporting patients between the Emergency Department and X-ray rooms.
