This is a fantastic opportunity if you are an experienced Financial Controller currently seeking a new and exciting permanent role within an extremely successful, very well-established, market leading company, who are conveniently based in Birmingham CityCentre.


  • Supporting the existing team with monthly tasks, such as prepayment, accruals, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ledgers review and reclassification. Balance sheet reconciliation support.
  • Support the Management with the Payroll reporting; Quarterly VAT filing and other HMRC related tasks. Goes beyond these returns and extend further into more technical operational accountancy. Take responsibility for implementing the financial skills andknowledge acquired in previous professional experience.
  • Support the CFO with statutory auditing preparation, such as yearend
- consolidation, reconciliation, assisting in the audit process and preparation of statutory accounts.

  • Support the CFO to prepare budget and update monthly forecasting.
  • Prepare and update the monthly cashflow for the company and liaise with the group.
  • Support the Head of the Department to prepare monthly performance reports against budget/forecasts. Identifying and reporting on factors influencing business performance and potential risks.
  • Investigate ways to optimise the accounting process and practices to improve the team efficiency and productivity. Have a continuous improvement mind set for systems and business procedures.
  • Understanding of customer/supplier contracts and operational/financial drivers; work with the Head of Department and commercial team to support tenders/pricing activities

Key skills

  • Strong commercial and business awareness. Enthusiasm to develop new skills and knowledge.
  • A good working knowledge of financial regulations and legislation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills to turn complex data into understandable form;
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise; Capacity to make timely and rational decisions.
  • Willing to be flexible and part of the team to provide holiday cover for team deliverables.

Qualification and Experience

  • ACA, ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA qualified is essential.
  • 3+ years post qualification experience is desirable.
  • Competence in using accounting software packages NetSuite and Sage
