Do you have a passion for Art and Art Galleries or Museums ?A Global Art Gallery is recruiting for an Assistant to the Director to be based in the their central London location.
The role will be heavily administration based but will also involve the ability to work to deadlines and budgets and to liaise with artistsas well as stakeholders,, while anticipating the ongoing needs of the Director.
Duties include- Sales support
- Provide academic and price research on works to be offered
- Prepare sales presentations and exhibition/project proposals
- Prepare and update contractual paperwork for consignments, sales and loans
- Conduct market and artwork research for valuations
- Manage pre and post sales logistics in coordination with the relevant departments
- Arrange for catalogues to be sent out to clients as required
- Oversee viewings when appropriate
- Provide client liaison support and engage with clients in a polite, professional manner where required with a prompt address of their concerns
- Ensure the Director's clients are kept up to date with the gallery program including event invitations, online initiatives, etc.
- Research potential public and large scale private projects globally
- Create proposals and documents to send out to clients and for project submissions
- Conduct image research for proposals and use image editing software
- Liaise with the staff in relation to large scale/ public art projects
- Update the master catalogue consisting of all large scale art projects by artists
- Schedule and coordinate appointments for the Director, manage their calendar, travel arrangements and itineraries and manage expenses
- Manage the Director's office to ensure smooth running of daytoday operations
- Manage the Director's database contacts and recordkeeping systems for sales, consignments, offers, client interest lists, client list, etc.
- Provide support to artists' studios with the arrangement of loans, consignments, insurance, shipping, marketing, photography, website listings, reproduction enquiries etc.
- Maintain an excellent relationship with the artist's studios; providing them with all other administrative, logístical and project management support on behalf of the gallery
- Assist in the internal management of international exhibitions
- Manage exhibition budgets
- Conduct independent archival research for exhibitions, catalogue texts and illustrations. Coordinate publications development
- Prepare and research exhibition proposals, including sales and pricing structure dossiers
- Maintain and update longterm artist projects
- BA or MA in Art History, Studio Art, or a related field.
- Excellent computer skills including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Acrobat and Google Workspace
- Excellent communication and written skills are required.
