Health Care Assistant - Discharge Lounge

We are looking to recruit a confident enthusiastic HCA to join our recently established team in the discharge lounge at ELHT

You will be working in a constantly changing environment caring for patients awaiting discharge and hospital transfer

Hours are 37.5, Monday to Sunday 8am - *pm

As an HCA you will be expected to work closely with other wards and departments to ensure safe discharge of patients.

In addition to care and supervision responsibilities you will be expected to maintain good relations with staff throughout the Trust and address delays in the discharge process through your Nurse In charge to ensure a safe and patient friendly discharge experience

Other duties include working as a team member to develop the services provided by the discharge lounge.

Patient Care

To maintain the highest possible standards of compassionate and professional patient care

with particular attention to privacy and dignity.

Assist patients with personal care and hygiene.
Assist patients with their sanitary needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
Ensure that patient's bedding, nightwear and clothing is maintained in a clean and

comfortable state.

Assist in the meeting of patients' nutritional needs. Ensure that patients who require

assistance at mealtimes have a red tray and are assisted with eating and drinking.

It is important you are made aware of the changes which East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has implemented with regard to charging for the cost of undertaking Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) Checks (previously known as Criminal Records Bureau or CRB) and how this may impact upon you.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.

As a member of the team you need to have good communication skills both written and verbally. Liaising with the multidisciplinary team and relatives. Be a good team member able to work closely with colleagues in sometimes difficult situations.
