37 hours per week – whole time Grade G SCP 9-12 (£25,119 - £26,421) pay award pending Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of seven Academies and one Sixth Form across the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire area serving a population in excess of 800 students with a broad range of learning difficulties. The Trust wishes to appoint 2 Caretakers to join our site management team. The successful candidates will be based at Hollis Academy in Middlesbrough or Westlands Academy in Thornaby (please specify which Academy you would prefer on your application form). Opportunities to complete a range of premises related training will be available to the successful candidates. Previous school experience is not essential. The post holder will work in partnership with the Premises team to:

• Ensure the cleanliness of the building/Academy.
• Supervise cleaners and cleaning as and when required.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance that are beyond the scope of a competent DIY person and experience in a trade such as joinery or plumbing would be an advantage.
• Carry out daily and weekly scheduled tasks.
• Have basic IT skills in order to operate planned maintenance programs.
• Be responsible for opening and closing as and when required.
• Be one of the named key holders for the Academy.

The successful candidate will be someone who is keen to maintain high standards and be able to use their own initiative with regard to prioritising their workload and recognising areas in the academy that require attention. Candidates should have some awareness of COSHH, although training will be given, and be prepared to work flexibly especially during the absence of colleagues across the Trust.
