    Our Edinburgh based client have created a new, permanent, Digital Design Engineer (FPGA) to develop innovative hardware systems for our clients products. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and verification of digital logic circuits using FPGAs. The role would be ideal for someone looking to advance or kick start their career rapidly by taking direct ownership of product solutions, working within a multi-disciplinary team, and solving challenging technical problems.

    You will make an impact by:

    • Being the go-to person for all aspects of FPGA and digital design.
    • Designing and implementing complex digital circuits using hardware description languages (HDLs) such as Verilog or VHDL.
    • Translating system requirements into efficient and performance optimized FPGA implementations.
    • Developing and utilising test benches for comprehensive verification of implemented digital logic.
    • Integrating FPGA designs with other hardware and software components.
    • Participating in hardware debugging and troubleshooting activities.
    • Maintaining and documenting design specifications, schematics, and test plans.
    • Staying up to date with the latest FPGA/digital design technologies and tools.

    You will thrive if you:

    Essential

    • Are educated to at least Bachelor's degree standard in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
    • Have significant experience in FPGA design and implementation.
    • Are an expert with FPGA development tools and methodologies (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus).
    • Have a solid understanding of digital logic design principles, combinational and sequential circuits, and state machines.
    • Enjoy being part of a close-knit team and learning from those around you but can also work independently and are hands on to solve problems as they emerge.

    Desirable

    • Experience with high-speed interfaces (e.g., DDR, LVDS, PCIe).
    • Knowledge of embedded systems and microprocessor interfaces.
    • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, TCL).
    • Familiarity with signal processing and digital communication algorithms.
    • Experience of working in a data communications or Consumer Electronics industry.
    • Strong working knowledge FPGA to ASIC conversion process.
