Established in 2022, Bright Green Nature is a dynamic and expanding environmental charity basedin the Scottish Borders. We aim to restore and preserve natural places for the benefit of ourwildlife, our environment, and our communities.
Our mission is to preserve our rich natural andcultural heritage and create spaces where people can come together to learn new skills andknowledge about how we can care for our planet and each other.
This is a part-time role for a Nature Restoration Officer at Bright Green Nature.The charityprovides small grants to families, schools and small community groups through its "Wild YourSpace" Microfund (see ) and as part of this extremelysuccessful programme we are seeking to employ an experienced Nature Restoration Officer tosupport our growing community of WYS applicants.
As a Nature Restoration Officer, you will be responsible for:Working directly with schools, families and community groups within the Scottish Borders toprovide guidance and practical support in improving biodiversity within their spaces
Supporting the WYS groups to be able to access materials such as trees, plants, wood, toolsand other materials required by their projects
Support the WYS groups to be able to maintain their restored spaces to benefit Nature on alonger term basis
Building and managing an online network of WYS Microfund holders
Building and managing a WYS Ambassador network within communities.
This role requires a strong passion for nature conservation and the ability to workindependently.
Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently
Passion for nature conservation/restoration and sustainable practices
A degree in environmental science, ecology, biology, or a related field
Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including community organizations
