    Description
    Planner required for a tier 1 contractor in the Pencoed, Wales area. You will need to have experience in working with Asta Power Projects.

    Job role:
    Assist in leading the overall planning function at a divisional level.

    Ensure adequate resources and training are provided to ensure that each tender and project have the appropriate level of support.

    Review the buildability of projects and produce/develop contractually compliant tender & construction programmes based on budget, work scope and available resources.

    Monitor progress on site and update the programme in accordance with contract conditions.

    Role Accountabilities

    Mentor engineering and commercial staff to develop planning knowledge.

    Engage with senior commercial staff to provide input into accurate forecasting.

    Support commercial staff with the prosecution of claims.

    Contribute to divisional Right Works strategy and divisional Plans.

    Planning lead on our major projects when appropriate.

    Ensure contract programmes are resourced and cost loaded if appropriate.


    Understand project requirements (tender, form of contract, deliverables, drawings, specifications, etc), review buildability and prepare robust fully logic linked tender programme detailing required resources.

    Prepare planning notes detailing outputs and resource used in the development of the programme.

    Run an integrity check on programme before submitting – checking for excessive float, open ends, falsely constrained activities etc.

    Prepare labour resource histogram when applicable.

    Attend meetings with customer, designers, and quantity surveyors to provide planning support.


    Review actual programme operations against tender programme and provide feedback to the work winning team, develop 'as built' programme in the process.

    Monitor progress on site and update the programme on a regular basis in accordance with the contract conditions.

    Review compensation events/variations to assess delay and produce effective reports to assist in extension of time requests. Provide support of contractual claims as well as defense of claims from subcontractors.

    Develop and seek to maintain a good relationship with the customer's planning team.


    Ensure there is a written response to each and every programme submitted as to whether accepted or rejected (within 2 weeks).


    If a programme is rejected, understand why, address and resubmit programme within 24 hours rather than wait to correct these on the next due submission.

    Analyse delays, review variations, produce change event programmes and provided robust narrative

    Review subcontract claims for extension of time and produce reports.

    Provide detailed reports and retrospective analysis for assistance in contractual claims for extension of time.
