Sports Ground Team Lead
The preparation and maintenance of sports playing surfaces to a high standard to include; cricket, athletics,

tennis, rugby, football, ATP, and add hock events and estate duties as directed by the Grounds Manager.

Maintenance duties are to include both mechanical and manual operations and will cover the broad spectrum

of Sport ground Industry maintenance operations.

Responsible for the health and safety of themselves, their work colleagues and others who may be affected by

their activity, working in accordance with the safety policies of Sussex Estates Facilities.

Key Tasks
As a Sports Ground Maintenance Operative you will be responsible undertaking:

Cricket pitch preparation and maintenance; mowing, scarifying, rolling, marking and autumn renovations
Football and Rugby Mowing, aeration, scarifying and fertilising; tractor mounted machinery.
Line marking; Initial setting out and mark and weekly over marking
Brushing sand dressed artificial surfaces
Seasonal Leaf clearing & Daily litter picking and debris clearance.
Goal post/ Rugby post erection and dismantling, equipment maintenance and storage.
Undertake snow clearing and salt spreading.
Roping off and preparing for events

To operate machinery in a safe and effective manner in accordance with operators manuals with due regard to

Health and Safety instructions and Risk Assessments.

Clean and maintain machinery and equipment to a high standard and order.

Training and Communication

To communicate effectively with colleagues and management
To adhere to Sussex Estates Facilities policies and procedures
To attend all induction and training courses as requested

General

Personal Profile

Qualifications
Good basic education with evidence of numerical and English language skills.

PA1 PA6

Health and Safety at Work.

Full Driving Licence.

Desirable
NVQ Level 2 Sports Turf,

IOG National Technical Cert.

First Aid at Work.

Experience
Practical experience of working in a Sports maintenance role, hands on team working

Skills and Knowledge
Good working knowledge of fine turf maintenance operations

Good working knowledge of the safe operation and repair of sports ground equipment and plant.

Good time management skills and demonstrable ability to work well in a team and independently

Good understanding of the importance of maintaining the sports complex to a very high standard for

the benefit of students, staff and visitors.

Personal Qualities
Positive approach and able to respond to deadlines and meet the many needs of a diverse site, with mixed

departmental need and logístical requirements.

Responsive to onsite customers requests in a positive and effective way.
