Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 14 months in the first instance.

The Department of Sociology in the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a part-time Research Assistant to join the ERC-funded project,

Smart Forests:
Transforming Environments into Social-Political Technologies, led by PI Professor Jennifer Gabrys. The Research Assistant will contribute to the Smart Forests Atlas content and technical development. The Smart Forests Atlas is an open-research infrastructure developed to communicate ongoing research and connect with stakeholders.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for coordinating the Smart Forests Atlas, including:

  • Coordinating and managing content on the Smart Forests Atlas, including adding new content.
  • Editing and posting Smart Forests Atlas content from other researchers and external contributors.
  • Collaborating with Smart Forests team members to refine and connect Smart Forests Atlas content.
  • Scheduling and posting content including the Smart Forests Radio podcasts (using Podbean and podcast services).
  • Coordinating Atlas content with external consultants working on sound, website development, and other aspects of the Smart Forests Atlas.
  • Using GitHub tools to generate coordinate and generate Atlas materials and updating GitHub and other instructions for external contributors.
  • Using and updating Wagtail Content Management System for Atlas materials, along with similar 'back end' platform tools.
  • Noting UX design issues and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Coordinating Atlas content with external contributors including by holding meetings and tutorials to introduce the site to users.
