The Catering Services Department of the Dorset County Hospital is seeking a Catering Assistant to help in the service of patients, Staff and Visitors within our retail operations.

This post will involve basic food preparation, service of customer, use of tills, catering equipment (i.e. coffee machines, vending machines etc) and will involve an element of cleaning duties and dishwashing.


The successful applicants would be able to demonstrate impressive customer care skills and undertake on-line training as these are very important aspects of the role.

As a Catering Porter within the Catering Department, you will provide a valued service to the Hospital in the central service of patient meals and ensuring that the Trust maintains its high standards of cleanliness, food safety & hygiene.


Safely deliver patient's meals in time to the wards throughout the Hospital, return Hot lock trollies to the kitchen, empty and thoroughly clean and sanitise trollies to expected high standards after every service, Breakfast, Lunch and Supper.

Working closely with the Catering and Stores Admin teams in delivering and maintaining Ward provision stock levels, (i.e. milk, bread, sandwiches, drinks, Etc.) ensuring, food and drink is; in date, at the correct stock levels and stored appropriately, including consumables, cutlery and plates.
