Senior Data Engineer
Location: Birmingham/Hybrid - Typically 4 days home based and 1 day per week in Birmingham city centre office
Full-Time, permanent

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:
Data Infrastructure Coordination: Collaborate with colleagues to establish a robust data infrastructure that aligns with the organization's vision of being a data-driven regulator.
Procurement Guidance: Lead the procurement of core services essential for data initiatives. Contribute to the design of systems and data architecture while identifying suitable suppliers and external partners to build a robust data stack.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with diverse teams, including Executive, IT, Operations, and Research and Statistics, to support their data requirements and address data-related technical challenges.
ETL/ELT Infrastructure: Build the required infrastructure for efficient ETL/ELT processes, integrating data from various sources using cutting-edge technologies.
Data Flow Implementation: Implement data flows to connect operational systems with analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems.
Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including infrastructure redesign for scalability, data delivery optimization, and automation of manual processes.
Metadata Management: Assume responsibility for metadata management, data modeling, and testing.
Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and respond to issues in databases, data processes, data products, and services as they arise.
Qualifications and Experience
Proven experience in data engineering, with a strong track record of successfully building data infrastructure and pipelines.
Expertise in data procurement and the ability to guide the selection of suitable suppliers and partners.
Proficiency in ETL/ELT processes and the integration of data from diverse sources using modern technologies.
Experience in implementing data flows to connect operational systems with analytics and BI systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Familiarity with metadata management, data modeling, and testing.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Data Engineering, etc.).
