Laundry Assistant
-
Temporary contract with a potential to lead to a permanent contact._

28 hours per week (paid break),


Shift Pattern:

  • Week 1: Mon, Tues, Saturday and Sunday (7am till 5pm)
  • Week 2: Wed and Thursday (7am till 5pm)
Responsible to -
Care Manager and Head Housekeeper.

Job purpose

:


The holder of this post is responsible for ensuring that the cleanliness of residents' clothes, bed linen, towels and laundering items is maintained to a high standard.

Main activities

:


  • To wash, dry and iron the residents clothes. To wash and dry bed linen, towels and other laundering items.
  • To ensure that the correct washing solutions are used and instructions are followed.
  • To mark unnamed items.
  • Gathering and placing items in appropriate piles relating to resident room numbers and ensuring that certain items are hung neatly on coat hangers.
  • Bringing items which need repairing to the Manager's attention.
  • To be aware of C.O.S.H.H regulations.
  • To use resources economically and effectively.
  • To be aware of all policies and procedures within the home.
  • To maintain the cleanliness of the work surfaces, floor and equipment in the laundry and to hoover out the tumble dryer on a weekly basis.
  • To attend staff training and meetings where necessary.
  • To inform the Manager of any problems relating to the laundry.

Health and Safety.


All employees have a duty to carry out their work with due regard for the health and safety of themselves, other employees, the public and residents, to observe health and safety requirements relevant to their activities and co-operate with the company so as to enable them to carry out their own responsibilities effectively.

They must report to their supervisor every accident, no matter how minor, and also any incident which could resulting damage to the home or equipment, and co-operate in the investigation of accidents with the object of preventing a recurrence.

£10.50 per hour
