Here at Balfour Beatty Living Places we are looking to expand our Quality Team.

This has given rise to the exciting opportunity to join us as a
Quality Advisor covering sites throughout Southern England (flexible on location).


The contracts to be covered have depots across East Sussex, West Sussex and Southampton and the main works we undertake are highway maintenance and street lighting, as well various different projects.


You will be part of a team of six throughout the country, and will be required to advise on quality related matters with your assigned contracts, assist with and carry out internal and supply chain audits and assist with the development and roll out of businesswide quality initiatives.

As a
Quality Advisor you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Coaching and assisting delivery teams in achieving the required deliverables, and managing issues as required, also providing Quality advice to our supply chain where appropriate;
  • Performing compliance visits and chairing quality review meetings with senior contract team staff;
  • Production and implementation of the annual audit programme, carrying out local and supplier audits in line with its objectives, and supporting contracts with BBUK and external certification audits (e.g. NHSS, HEA, DNV, NERS etc.);
  • Overseeing the maintenance of the Business Management System, supporting delivery teams as required, and maintaining NHSSrelated documentation to reflect the latest requirements;
  • Delivery of Quality Awareness training to equip the business with the skills to drive improvements in Quality performance;
  • Where required provide input to the tender development and bidding process.
  • Attending prestart meetings for significant projects (either in terms of value, complexity or QA/QC requirements);
  • Supporting wider quality improvement initiatives across the UK business.
  • Challenging current systems and processes to ensure best practice and continual improvement;
  • Implementing other improvements as directed by the Senior / Operational Leadership Teams.

You will have the following:

  • An understanding and commitment to Quality Management;
  • Experience in public sector works (street lighting or highways) or wider construction;
  • Has an enquiring and questioning approach to audit work and experience in managing accreditation audits;
  • Experience in driving business improvement and leading change;
  • Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively;
  • Pays attention to detail and the ability to see things through to completion;
  • Fully proficient in modern office computer systems and technology e.g. Office 365;
  • Either a CQI Practitioner/Member or working towards practitioner/membership status.

The following are desirable:

  • Awareness of NHSS, HEA or NERS certifications and their requirements;
  • Experience in using Digital Progressive Assurance systems / Electronic Forms;
  • Operational experience in construction or asset management.
  • Formal qualification in Quality Management;
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor trained;
