    Support Engineer

    The System Test Rigs Centre of Excellence, part of the System Engineering department, is tasked with creating intricate simulation systems for prototyping railway signaling and control equipment in lab settings for mainline, metro, and light rail projects.

    The Support Engineer's role involves constructing cable looms and sub-systems as per detailed designs and procedures, fitting them into cubicles.

    You'll make an impact by ....

    • Picking parts based on drawings and Bill of Materials
    • Assembling cables using solder and crimp terminations
    • Building and wiring assemblies in cases and on rack shelves
    • Labelling according to specifications
    • Utilizing small and large workshop tools
    • Maintaining high standards of organization and adhering to Health and Safety protocols in the lab
    • Testing and inspecting cables/assemblies

    Your success will be grounded by ...

    • Sound knowledge of Module, Cabinet & Cable Wiring, Electrical Connectors & Terminations
    • Adherence to Work Instructions, Drawings, Wiring Schedules, Schematics, and Engineering Sketches
    • Understanding of electrical and electronic engineering, product and hardware engineering
    • Strong social interaction and organizational skills
    • Self-motivated, reliable, and independent
    • Proficient in databases and systems for effective records management
    • Numerically skilled
    • Familiarity with hardware and software lifecycles and associated tools
    • Experience in materials management, record-keeping, and H&S audits
    • Certified in BS7671 wiring regulations

    Qualifications

    Educated to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in engineering, science, or a related field
