    Job summary

    Diabetes & Nutrition Services (DANS) consist of the Diabetes, Nutrition and Dietetic services. The services lead on best practicepatient centred care in the management of each of these specialist areas. Working closely together they are able to provide collaborative care for patients within the clinical pathways and support health care professionals within the region.

    Referrals are assessed by our specialist team and support and advice is offered remotely or as a face to face assessment or a domiciliary visit

    Core working hours of the service are from 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).

    The service runs across the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) geography of Sirona and has a variety of clinics and bases. The services has three bases within BNSSG, with the main bases being at John Milton Clinic, Henbury, Bristol and Castlewood in Clevedon, North Somerset.

    Main duties of the job

    This role will work within an administrative team to provide a comprehensive and flexible administrative service to the team of Diabetes Specialist Nurses and Dietitians working within the Diabetes & Nutrition Service. The post holder will work collaboratively and flexibly with the team to provide a seamless administrative service ensuring all key functions of the services are covered each day. The post holder works well within the team supporting the clinicians, patients and other health care professionals who contact the service.

    Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of using Microsoft Office products, word, excel, outlook
  • Significant relevant experience in administrative work - managing patient appointments and bookings advantageous.
  • Experience of dealing with patients/customers in a service environment including able to deal with routine and non-routine
  • Experience of receiving calls from members of the public and dealing with queries / complaints
  • Experience of working in a team and an understanding of team dynamics.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and written
  • Excellent organisational skills, able to forward plan.
  • Desirable

  • Knowledge of EMIS, WAP, NHS chain supply
  • Knowledge of Jaba and Touchpoint telephony system
  • An understanding of healthcare provision within BNSSG and a willingness to learn about the Diabetes & Nutrition Services
  • Qualifications

  • NVQ in Business Administration and/or relevant experience in a similar role
