    Description

We are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational teacher to join our Design & Technology department (full or part time considered). This is a fantastic job opportunity for a teacher who really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. Outwood Academy Acklam, which was the first Outwood school in Teesside, has almost 1200 students on roll. At its latest inspection, it was judged to be a GOOD school with OUTSTANDING leadership. We are a diverse and vibrant 11-16 academy, based in the friendly, north-east town of Middlesbrough.

We are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning. In a beautiful setting, enjoy the state-of-the-art facilities that the academy has to offer.

We have a holistic and inclusive approach to the work that we do. The Academy has received accolades and external recognition, with the awarding of the Inclusion Quality Mark - Centre of Excellence, alongside the Carnegie 'Gold' Mental Health Award for the work we do to support our diverse and dynamic student body.

Our Faculty comprises Art, Design Technology, Hospitality & Catering, Computer Science and Business Studies. The team consists of seven passionate teachers each with their own areas of expertise and experience; we are also supported by two specialist technicians that cover DT, Art and Catering. The faculty was formed in April 2023 when Technologies, Art and Computing joined together under the leadership of our Head of Faculty, Mrs K Smith. As a faculty we provide most of the option subjects across the school and therefore have a unique opportunity to expertly support our students in building their future. We work collaboratively as a team to ensure our students get the best of specialist teaching across the range of subjects whilst also ensuring that all of our teachers have a network of open, supportive and friendly peers to rely on.
