Lending Operations, part of Markets and Lending Delivery, is the operational centre of excellence for commercial lending execution and servicing activities.
The function provides dedicated specialist support for Commercial Banking coverage sectors, Client Products, Business Banking and LBCM, and are a vital partner in delivering for Lloyds Banking Group Clients.
Lending Operations deliver Lending facility documentation, security management, syndicated and bilateral lending, from initial documentation through to drawdown and maintenance of the loan through its lifecycleWe have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director to join our teams based in Edinburgh, Birmingham and London.
Lending Operations supports Relationship Teams in relation to transactional activity, specifically negotiation of facility and security documentation, due diligence documentation, perfection of security, confirmation of Safe to Lend, loan monitoring and management information systems.
You'll need to have comprehensive understanding of Credit Policy, LMA documentation and deal management experience and demonstrate the ability to effectively manage a variety of senior partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Motivates and develops colleagues driving incremental improvements to the Lending Execution offering.
- Enhances Lending Operations' reputation both internally & externally, and delivers in line with key partner expectations.
- Provide accurate advice and guidance in respect of credit, transaction and loan management.
- Encourages and embraces a collaborative approach to the achievement of local and divisional objectives.
- Oversight of complex credit transactions (committed and uncommitted) and non credit related documentation on behalf of Relationship Teams including the scoping, negotiation and execution of lending documentation to ensure compliance with credit/risk sanction and Bank and regulatory policy.
- Preparation of credit/risk proposals to seek approval for any material nonstandard terms or documentation/credit policy exceptions when required.
- Active management of core data within operational and management information systems to facilitate facilities from sanction through drawdown to repayment.
- Providing day to day commercial and technical support, advice and mentorship.
- Effective management of key partners including coverage, credit and support teams.
- Quality control of documentation and work completed by the Assistant Managers.
Crucial skills and experience:
- Proven track record of managing a number of (often competing) workstreams, whilst balancing risk aspects.
- Confident, driven, highly flexible, and an excellent communicator with a good current understanding of the external corporate marketplace
- Broad organisational awareness and an unparalleled knowledge of credit policy and procedures, particularly with regards to credit documentation.
- Multifunctional documentation expertise across complex debt (LMA), intercreditor and security documentation, with ability to consider legal & transactional impacts both in negotiating & thereafter interpreting once the deal is 'live'
Desirable skills:
- Demonstration of experience and competence operating within the Corporates and Institutional Coverage sector is desirable
- Previous hands on customer relationship management and/or transaction negotiation experience would also be highly beneficial.
