    We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious & hardworking individual to join our vehicle maintenance unit (VMU) as an apprentice.

    During the apprenticeship, you will develop knowledge & understanding of servicing, inspecting, & maintaining vehicles/trailers & the importance of safety inspection & maintenance schedules to meet operator licence & legal obligations.

    The apprenticeship will involve on & off the job training in the workplace, with weekly day release to Stoke on Trent College.

    Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop an understanding of operator's licence relating to heavy vehicles
  • Develop the fundamentals of HV technologies e.g., HV chassis design, engine, fuels, transmissions, electrical (12/24v), air-conditioning, hydraulic and air braking, air suspension systems
  • Diagnosing principles and logical problem-solving techniques related to HV.
  • Working alongside the team to ensure repairs are carried out to meet or exceed the minimum company standards.
  • Carry out duties in a manner consistent with established safety, environmental & maintenance procedures.
  • Work with VMU shift Co-ordinators / FLM & Logistics team to ensure fleet asset availability in accordance with delivery schedules.

  • English & Maths at GCSE Grade C/4 (or Functional Skills Level 2) or above
