    The Role

    The Brewhouse is a thriving arts centre in the heart of Burton upon Trent. We work hard to create a reputation for showing exciting acts and providing a great night out for visitors and residents alike.

    We have a range of facilities including studio spaces for workshops and rehearsals, a small cinema and our auditorium, we host a number of exhibitions each year in our gallery spaces and we also have our café bar which is perfect for smaller events.

    We have a wide ranging workshop programme delivered by our Tutors; including weekly daytime and evening classes, after-school clubs and school holiday programmes.

    The successful candidate will work as part of our team of casual tutors; supporting a range of creative engagement activities as well as specifically leading on the delivery of our young people's dance programmes and classes based both at The Brewhouse and in schools and community venues across the Borough.

    The Brewhouse deliver a range of weekly classes as part of our dance development programme including Brewhouse youth dance (BYD). We also with schools across East Staffordshire to deliver dance provision both in and out of school hours.

    We are looking for an experienced dance artist that can lead on the delivery, planning and teaching of these programmes.

    Any experience of developing new partnerships and projects would be welcomed as we are always looking for new opportunities to engage more people in the arts and find ways to get more young people in particular taking part in dance and creative activities.

    Key Requirements

    The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Deliver dance programmes as directed by the Audience & Participation Development Officer.
  • Work with a range of partners to supply dance activity throughout the Borough.
  • Assist in the development of youth dance prospects throughout the borough through the provision of: weekly sessions, additional project based work, performance opportunities and any additional supporting material needed.
  • Assist other members of the Brewhouse team in the planning and delivery of a diverse range of projects and ongoing work.
  • Other appropriate duties at the discretion of the Audience & Participation Development Officer.
  • The role does require some evening and weekend working.

    You must have access to transport due to the varied venues for activity across the Borough; some of these are in rural locations.

    Skills & Experience

    You will have experience of teaching dance to a wide range of age groups and abilities.

    An understanding of dance network activity in the Midlands would be an advantage.

    Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced level Disclosure & Barring Service Check.
