    Job summary

    We are seeking to recruit two exceptional and highly motivated Senior HR Advisors, able to demonstrate significant experience of successfully managing a varied, complex, sensitive and demanding caseload, as part of a pro-active ER Team. As part of our team you will be delivering compassionate and comprehensive front-line Employee Relations advice to a wide range of stakeholders; ensuring a just and learning culture is at the forefront.

    You must have the ability to inspire confidence in the managers you support, as a key function of the role is to advise, coach and empower middle and senior managers to resolve employee relations matters effectively and independently, with a focus on early informal resolution. You will keep to clear timeframes and policy deadlines and manage risk by applying knowledge of best HR practice, latest case law and legislations.

    Both posts are full-time [ hrs per week], with core hours covering 9am to 5pm and will work to a hybrid model of working across sites and from home.

    You will be CIPD qualified and must be able to demonstrate 'hands on' experience within a HR setting operating in a complex, unionised and challenging employment environment. Ideally you will have a good working knowledge of the NHS Terms and Conditions of Service and ESR system. You should have an up to date knowledge of UK employment and be able to demonstrate its application in practice.

    Main duties of the job

    East Sussex

    This post supports our East Division which provides specialist community and inpatient mental health services for adults over the age of 18, living in East Sussex and with services situated across Eastbourne, Hasting and High Weald, Lewes and Havens. The post requires regular attendance onsite at least one day per week and attendance across sites and locations for formal face-to-face workforce hearings and management meetings.

    Corporate & Estates

    This post provides HR support to our Corporate support functions within the Trust including Finance and Payroll, Digital, Business Planning and Project Management, Clinical and Corporate Governance and our Estates and Maintenance functions within the Trust. All of these departments are critical in supporting our Clinical Divisions across the Trust. The majority of our Corporate functions are located in our Trust Headquarters at Portland House in Worthing, with some staff located across the Trust-wide Portfolio in Sussex.

    You will provide advice and guidance on all aspects of Employee Relations including; change programmes, Tupe, complex disciplinary investigations, performance and attendance management, redundancy, redeployment, job evaluation, grievances, dignity at work and freedom to speak up cases, ensuring that problems are identified and resolved quickly, effectively and fairly and that throughout all processes there is comprehensive and effective communication with staff and their representatives.

    This is a highly interactive position that requires a degree of autonomous working, whereby you will need to work collaboratively with another Senior HR Advisor and in partnership with union representatives that are assigned to the Division/Support Function. You will be professionally supported by an ER Manager and be responsible to the HR Business Partner. You will work within an experienced team of Senior HR Advisors, providing cross-cover and support to each other.

    Job responsibilities

    In addition to the main duties you will attend formal employee relations meetings [face to face [onsite] and virtual] as appropriate and advise managers on documentation, ensuring consistency, accuracy and best practice. You will attend and provide support to Case Managers and Chairs at formal hearings and appeals.

    You will oversee and provide support on the effective management of Employment Tribunal claims, including being the first point of contact with the assigned legal team and supporting managers in the provision of key documentation and statements. You may be required to attend the Tribunal in person.

    A key role is to provide the HR Business Partner, ER Manager and Head of Employee Relations/HR Business Partnering with monthly employment relations data for key performance indicators. You will be required to interpret this information, identifying trends, levels of risks and specific 'hot spot' problem areas and to work with key stakeholders in identifying and implementing solutions.
