Description
Family Support - Group Helper (Support for Neurodiverse Families – Hampshire)Hampshire and IOW Support for Neurodiverse Families offers arange of evidence-based skills-building programmes to support parents / carersof children aged with emotional or behavioural needs.
We deliver skillsbuilding programmes face-to-face and digitally using Zoom across Hampshire andthe IOW.We are looking for volunteers with a passion to help deliver ourprogrammes and support parents which might include a listening ear, emotionalsupport, or signposting.
You will offer this support by volunteering with ourtrained facilitators to deliver online groups which would include monitoringthe chat function and looking out for parents' reactions to ensure thefacilitators capture everyone's voice or supporting in a face-to-face groupwith setting up equipment, making refreshments and engaging with parents.
We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making adifference in people's lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability toengage parents and carers in worthwhile and enjoyable activities, supportingthem to achieve their goals.
Lived-experience is preferable but not essential.Location and timing are yet to be confirmed when our next timetable is released.
Face-to-face courses take place during school hours and term time only.
Online courses may take place during school hours and evenings.
Skills
Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
Approachable and welcoming.
The ability to communicate and engage with children, youngpeople and families.
Being non-judgmental and positive in their attitude toworking with individuals from different backgrounds.
Having some knowledge and understanding of supportingparents and carers, and the issues faced by disadvantaged families.
Having personal experience with running a home and/ormaintaining family routines.
The ability empathise with children, young people andfamilies, who may be facing difficult times in their lives
You will need to undergo a police check, attend inductiontraining and provide two references.
