Reporting to the Policy Manager, the role of Graduate Policy Officer is a varied and interesting position with a range of responsibilities.

In order to ensure we are fair and accountable, the Graduate Policy Officer will help to provide assurance that policy meets our standards for good governance.

They will provide advice and guidance to leaders in the business on regulation changes, to ensure we are compliant and proactive.

We respect our customers and listen to their needs in order to provide excellent services.

With this in mind, the Graduate Policy Officer will support working sessions with a variety of colleagues across the customer service directorate to ensure policy meets the needs of our diverse customer group.

They will work collaboratively with others in the Customer Experience Team and services across Great Places to monitor, develop and embed new policy and help shape service delivery.


What you'll be doing, over time and with training and the supervision of experienced colleagues

  • Ensuring the responsibilities of the post are carried out in a way that reflects the standards, vision and values of Great Places
  • Representing Great Places in a professional manner with integrity, inclusivity and respect for diversity
  • Developing an indepth knowledge of the policy framework and ensure the customer is at the heart of policy at Great Places
  • Maintaining accurate records for policy assurance
  • Supporting policy reviews and help to embed new policy for colleagues and customers
  • Working with our communication partner to communicate policy change
  • Using data and evidence to support decision making, including information provided by the Customer Feedback Team and Housing Ombudsman
  • Communicating with various teams across the business to support the policy process
  • Horizon scanning for sector change and new national, or regional policy changes
  • Treating customers and colleagues with respect and empathy

What you'll need

  • GCSE maths and English or equivalent at grade C/4 or above
  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment, with a proven ability of delivering a high standard of customer service
  • Be able to demonstrate good knowledge of current issues facing the housing sector
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A willingness to build good rapport with teams across the business to resolve issues
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as using your own initiative and time management skills to deliver tasks on time
  • Keen eye for detail and good organisational skills
  • Demonstrate professional curiosity
  • Eagerness undertake training and development
  • Positive and constructive approach to work and colleagues
  • Commitment to completing all parts of the training programme
  • Commitment to observe and comply with all policies / procedures / working practices / regulations and in particular Great Places Equality and Diversity Policy, Health and Safety Policy and Safeguarding Policy
