    What are we looking for?

    To expand our international Marine Surveyor team, we are now looking for an experienced Engineer (m/f/d) with a passion for their job based in London / UK.

    With a keen interest in technical issues and solutions, communicative skills to formulate even complicated cases in an understandable way verbally and in written reports.

    A high degree of flexibility and corresponding availability, autonomous working and decision-making skills, empathy and the ability to deal with several problems and tasks simultaneously are required.

    Specific tasks

    • Damage assessment: In the event of damage to ships or maritime equipment, you will carry out assessments to determine the extent of the damage, the causes and possible repair or replacement solutions. You will work closely with insurance companies, shipping companies and other relevant parties.
    • Reporting: Upon completion of inspections, you will prepare detailed reports of your findings, assessments and recommendations. These reports serve as the basis for decisions regarding repairs, maintenance work or compliance with regulations.
    • Customer support: As a marine surveyor, you will be in close contact with customers, including ship owners, shipping companies, insurance companies and other maritime professionals. You will advise and support them with technical questions about the condition, problems and damage.

    Requirements

    • Completed studies in the maritime field, such as ship operating technology / mechanical engineering / plant engineering.
    • Analytical skills and the ability to formulate detailed reports in sophisticated English.
    • Knowledge of applicable national and international maritime regulations and standards.
    • Flexibility and high willingness to travel, as inspections often have to be carried out on site and at any time. This means travelling locally and globally at very short notice, including weekends and public holidays.
    • English business fluent or native speaker
    • Valid driving licence (car)

    Desirable, but not essential

    • Have worked as a marine engineer, superintendent or shipyard engineer.
    • Professional experience as a Marine or Class Surveyor
    • Strong professional network in the maritime industry
    • Experience in the inspection of ships or maritime facilities
    • Experience in technical ship management
