Description

To create, organise and offer service users a stimulating and comprehensive programme of activities - to include both one to one activities as well as group sessions.


  • Delivering and arranging activities for service users which provide a stimulating environment to meet their emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs.
  • To actively observe, maintain and promote the Lidder Care values of loyalty, independence, dignity and privacy, dedicated, empathy, respect, caring, approachable, reassuring and enriching and fulfilment.
  • To ensure that the activities programme is circulated to all service users, so they know when and what is taking place.
  • Attending resident meetings to see if service users are happy with the activities on offer, as and when required
  • To motivate, encourage and participate in activities with service users, and delegate to staff, activity responsibilities to ensure that activities are taking place at regular intervals.
  • Liaising and forging links with local organisations such as Dementia UK, Age Concern, schools and local entertainers to support the activities programme.
  • To organise trips out into the local community, considering transport arrangements and accessibility.
  • To build and maintain good relationships with service users and their relatives, displaying good communication and listening skills, to ensure they are provided with an effective communication network

This may include:

  • Talking and listening to service users
  • Helping them to maintain contact with family, friends and the community
  • Assisting with shopping and recreation tasks
  • Being aware of their likes, dislikes, nutritional and cultural needs.
  • To arrange photographs of events that take place, and to supply articles and images to the Operations Manager, Administrator and Marketing Executive.
  • To always act in a professional manner towards visitors, staff and service users within the home.

Essential Criteria

  • Good IT, literacy, numeracy and writing skills, strong communication skills.
  • Good organisational and time management skills; ability to schedule and plan.
  • Digital skills to research and book activities online
  • The ability to motivate people. To be enthusiastic, optimistic, creative, Friendly, kind, patient and compassionate personality.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of caring for others
  • Experience in a health and social care setting
  • Experience of caring for individuals with dementia
  • Displaying compassion, patience and empathy in all tasks, whilst being creative, organised, proactive and reliable in the role.
  • Experience of working in a similar role or with vulnerable adults. You could have gain this experience through a work placement, from your personal life, through volunteering or as part of a traineeship or apprenticeship.
  • Awareness of safeguarding procedures and protocols is an advantage, but not essential as full training will be given.
Successful applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure which the expense will be met by the applicant.

If you already have an Enhanced Disclosure dated within the last 3 months this is transferable and there will be no need to pay for another.
