My client are a privately owned £10m turnover business with a solid trading history and client relationships seeking an FC/FD designate.

The business is a wholesaler and assembler of components importing from several global locations and selling to a widerange of UK manufacturers.


The role will initially work alongside the existing FD working towards taking over the full running of the Finance function with some consultancy support ongoing.


The role reports into the owner MD and manages a team of 3 in Finance and is a full function SME role providing a diverse and dynamic environment with no two days the same and a significant degree of autonomy.


Key tasks

  • Production and presentation of detailed Monthly Management Accounts including detailed variance analysis and profit by product, customer, territory etc.
  • Liaison with the firms accountants to facilitate their production of the statutory accounts and filings.
  • Authorisation of payment runs.
  • Manage banking relationships including the confidential invoice discounting facility to ensure covenants adhered to.
  • Balance sheet control and reconciliation.
  • Cashflow management and debtor analysis including a customer payment scoring process.
  • Currency hedging to ensure a cost effective supply of various currencies
  • Annual budgeting process.
  • Running a payroll for permanent staff including pensions, starters, leavers, contracts etc (Sage payroll).
  • Managing non product suppliers including insurance, utilities etc and ensure that all solutions are compliant and cost effective.
  • Ad hoc analysis of company costs (freight, procurement etc) to maximise margin ensure that the business remains competitive.
  • Maintenance of automated reporting in the finance system.
  • Quarterly VAT reporting.
