    Job Description:
  • We are looking for a Project Portfolio Manager to join our team and manage our innovation portfolio, reporting to the Head of Innovation.
  • Proactively driving effectiveness and efficiency of our innovation function, you will work alongside colleagues across multiple sites and departments and be responsible for overseeing and maintaining our portfolio of projects.
  • Continuous improvement of framework structure and governance procedures and processes across all project types at Element Six
  • A key function of the role will be appraisal and governance of innovation projects associated with our R&D and product portfolio
  • Responsible for providing data insights into the project portfolio, providing timely analysis, and presenting your findings in a clear and persuasive way to influence decisions.
  • The successful applicant must be able to effectively interact with staff at all levels and across multiple functions.
  • Duties and tasks

  • Analysis of the portfolio to ensure a balanced portfolio against crucial factors such as short term versus long term or risk against reward, linking the innovation project portfolio to measures of success across innovation and product performance.
  • Assessing portfolio performance, reviewing opportunities for continuous improvement, working to establish and promote best practice in project management.
  • Development and maintenance of business unit innovation project funnels to support prioritisation of projects.
  • Developing processes to show interdependencies of projects across the portfolio.
  • Communication on status of portfolio, designing and utilising dashboard metric reporting to highlight key changes and risks to projects on a regular basis.
  • Accountable for our New Product Introduction process including governance and oversight.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement and driving learnings across the portfolio.
  • Leading the digital transformation of project information, and integration with other data systems within Element Six to provide insights from related information.
  • Qualifications:
  • A successful influencer with confidence and assertiveness who has strong diplomacy skills.
  • Strong experience in project management in a scientific or equivalent field with a proven record of project delivery and/or commercialisation
  • Technical acumen in a science-based discipline or commercial experience would be beneficial.
  • Able to communicate proactively and extensively with senior business leaders, key stakeholders.
  • Previous experience working in a project or programme management office would be beneficial.
  • Proficient in the use of software applications, in particular MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word. Experience of a PPM software package and Power BI would also be advantageous.
  • Highly organised and adept at multi-tasking with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
