    Project Engineer (Construction Coordinator Electrical)

    Location: West Cumbria

    Role Summary: As an Electrical Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the MEICA construction team, identifying and implementing a comprehensive coordination strategy throughout multiple project phases. Your expertise in electrical engineering / installation will be instrumental in building an operable and maintainable facility to meet the requirements of the new facilities expected operational lifetime.

    Key Responsibilities: As the Electrical Project Coordinator, you will:

    • Utilise your expertise in Electrical disciplines to contribute to all aspects of project delivery; including design phases (Design constructability reviews, HAZOP's, Risk identification and management, Contract, Schedule, and Estimate), works testing phases, onsite testing (STW), and handover.
    • Coordinate the installation of M&E scope with the supply chain and civil / fit out trades in accordance with CDM.
    • Undertake coordination activities in line with management system, ensuring adherence to nuclear site license conditions.
    • Champion a proactive and balanced approach to safety, encompassing nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety measures, optimising safety during project delivery.
    • Collaborate and interface with internal and external stakeholders, as well as commissioning experts across various project phases.
    • Hold Suitably Qualified & Experienced Persons appointments or training to ensure successful achievement of project delivery targets.
    • Attend line of site meetings & lift plan meetings to communicate necessary information for site deliveries, required lay down and plant movements.
    • Act as a Technical Author, producing, reviewing, and revising pre-installation documentation. Additionally, complete daily diaries and report project delivery progress to the Construction Engineers and managers.
    • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, technical specifications and engineering standards.
    • Ensure inspection check lists are completed and signed off by all parties.
    • Review subcontractor Risk Assessments & Method Statements and provide comments if necessary to ensure compliance.
    • Carry out oversight and assurance to ensure the supply chain are adhering to site rules and their scope specific work packs.
    • Oversight of Safe Systems of work.

    The Ideal Candidate:

    Essentials:

    • Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical discipline.
    • HNC/ONC/Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline, with the ability to present qualification certification.
    • Willingness and ability to travel to various locations, including those beyond Sellafield Site in West Cumbria, the wider UK, and occasionally overseas, to support project delivery demands.
    • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Word and Excel.
    • Demonstrated experience in electrical installation and testing.
    • Hold current valid CSCS affiliated card aligned to role.

    Desirables:

    • HND/Level 4 qualification in the relevant discipline, with the ability to present qualification certification.
    • Prior experience in the nuclear sector, with exposure to large-scale projects.
    • Experience in setting to work new systems.
    • Previous position as Nominated/Authorised/Senior Authorised Person.

    • Ability to work collaboratively within all levels of the organisation to achieve successful project outputs and outcomes.
    • Capable of working autonomously with light touch supervision, including remote work from the team during works testing and other project phases.
